Written earlier in the year:
Around 4:00 a.m. this morning, it got really stormy with lightning and really loud thunder. The electricity went on and off several times. We have our treadmill in our bedroom and it is on my side of the bed. It has a digital console and when the electricity went off there was a loud beeping. The electricity came back on and the beeping stopped. But then it went off for about one and half hours and the loud beeping kept on for that long. I got up and unplugged all three plugs in the wall to make sure I got the one to the treadmill….still the beeping continued. We couldn’t sleep of course, but with the electricity off there was nothing we could do if we got up…so we just lay there trying to figure out why it would beep without a battery back-up (which it didn’t have). It was very irritating to say the least.
When it started to get light a little before 6:00 I got the flashlight beside my bed and decided to go brush my teeth and get dressed. As I passed the treadmill I noticed the beeping was not coming from it at all…It was coming from the clock radio!!! I pushed the button on top and…PURE BLISSFUL QUIET! I was wide awake by then so I informed Bobby about it and just stayed up. He stayed and made up for it until almost 8:00.
If I had investigated a couple of hours earlier…we could have gone back to sleep…but I was too lazy….convinced there was nothing I could do….complacent….resigned to the situation…willing to tolerate the noise…ignorant of the source…. All of the above actually.
That brings me to this point in my thoughts: Some day in the future there are going to be a lot of people who will have these thoughts come to them about eternal life. It will be too late to investigate! When Jesus speaks of His church, He doesn’t speak of multiple churches. He speaks of only one…of which He is the head. (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23)
God says that those who diligently seek Him will find Him. Proverbs 8:17 How many seek God that way??? Can you imagine a little child disappearing from his front yard and his mother looking around and not seeing him…maybe checking next door to see if he’s there and then shrugging her shoulders and going on about her business??? No! She would search the neighborhood and wouldn’t stop searching until she found him. Nothing would be more important than finding her little child! That is called ‘diligently’ searching and this is what the Lord is telling us to do.
P.S. If you need help in searching out what to do to be in a saved condition when Jesus comes to receive His people, Bobby and I would be happy to help you find it. We just do not know the day or hour when Jesus will come back. He doesn’t even know Himself…only God, the Father knows. If you know us and are in our area, just call us and we would be so happy to share with you. We will be kind . 🙂
