Jezebel and her faith in her god.

Posted on Updated on

If we had as much faith in our true God as Jezebel had in her idol, there is no telling what we could accomplish in our Christian lives and in our families. Jezebel managed to raise her children up to have her values, or rather lack of them and all she had was faith in a false god named Ba’al, a man-made god.

Her husband, Ahab was an evil person too and  even wanted a vineyard that belonged to Naboth but Naboth would not sell it to him because it was part of his inheritance in Israel and it would have been wrong for him to sell it. When Jezebel asked Ahab why he was sad, he told her that Naboth would not sell him the vineyard.  She asked, “Aren’t you the king of Israel?”  Jezebel went out and had Naboth killed and gave the vineyard to her husband.  1 Kings 21: 1-15

Her daughter Athaliah, grew up, and had all the royal seed killed, except Joash, and that only because he was hidden by his nurse. Jezebel was very wicked but she trusted in the false god, Ba’al and she raised her daughter up to be like herself.     2 Kings 11: 1-2.   Like Mother…Like Daughter.

As Christians today, how much more faith should we have in a God that we KNOW exists.  If we had as much faith in our true God of heaven, that Jezebel had in her false god,  would things be different in our lives and in our nation…and in our families?
