Making God Into An Idol

Posted on Updated on

Idols are things that are made with men’s hands. They have to be moved around…they cannot move themselves. Strange that people would worship them. But did you know that we can make an idol to ourselves today of the true God of heaven?

If we try to ‘fashion’ Him into Someone or want Him to be Someone who is only merciful, loving and forgiving and all those traits that we want in a God….not someone who is also just and at times angry….then we have made Him just an idol in our minds. If there were no ‘justice’ in God, we probably would not have seen His mercy and His great love either.

What a pitiful situation we can get ourselves into. God, through His love and mercy, supplied us with a Saviour…but the time will come when He will supply us with a Judge and it will be too late for us to think of Christ as a Saviour. The time is now!  (Romans 1:22-32; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10)

Amen, and judgement is already set.

“He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day” (John 12:48).

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
