We love planting the little red magnolia seeds that ripen on the burrs when they fall off the tree. It is so neat to plant them and watch little trees come up. The only thing is, you need to plant them where you want the tree to be…or ground them well before they are transplanted because when we transplanted them about 2 inches tall, they died…every time!
This reminds me of parents who wait until their children are older to try to teach them the truths of the Bible (i.e. transplant them.) It usually will not work because they are more receptive when they are small. They need to be grounded in God’s Word from the time they are little.
Sometimes it will work later and they can be persuaded to come back and be faithful, and we should praise God for that, but most will not return. We need to encourage young families to plant their children where they want them to be from the time they are newborns..and not have the heartache trying to transplant them later.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Isaiah 54:13 “…And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”
